Background information:
Natural England curently sets out the required Quality Standards for path infrastructure as including,
1. Structures that are always safe, comfortable, easy and convenient to use,
2. Consistent high quality design, style and use of materials to suit the character of the local landscape with historical features maintained where possible,
3. Route is easy to follow with consistent, accurate, unobtrusive way marking and destination signage,
4. Surfaces in good condiiton and appropriate to the geology and soils over which the trail passes,
5. Readily passable routes free from undergrowth and overhanging vegetation,
6. Safe road and rail crossings
